The Overkill.pl crew has conducted an exclusive interview with Metaliica's Robert Trujillo's wife, Chloe! We would like to invite all of you to read the exclusive interview below:

Overkill.pl: Firstly, I would like to thank you so much for your very nice message which made smile for many, many weeks!

Chloe Trujillo: I am happy it made you smile for that long!

Overkill.pl: On Jaunary, 11th, your Rock Fashion Show took place. You performed there with your band called Descend. Tell me, how was the party? Did you have fun? I am sure you did, tell us everything in detail.

Chloe Trujillo: It was a lot of preparation work, I was dressing live on stage models with my scarves only, showing the audience the many ways my scarves can be worn!!! It was a lot of fun, and I had such great feedback on that, I was able to inspire many women that night apparently! So cool!!!! The models also walked on songs I sang...which was magical for me to see!

And yes, I was supposed to sing live with Descend, unfortunately my guitarist got food poisoning the night before and had to cancel at the last minute....Of course since it's all original music we couldn't teach someone else the songs in time, but the Rockbar actually told me that they wanted me back for an all-music performance, so stay tuned!!! I can't wait!!!!

Overkill.pl: Kirk Von Hammett's Fear FestEvil 2015 takes place at the same venue at Rockbar Theater, are you going to be there?

Chloe Trujillo: If I am not on tour, I will be there!!! We are in the process of putting together a fashion/music tour, I'll tell you more about it soon....But for those who are around and free, you should definitely go!!! And great bands are playing too!!!!

Overkill.pl: Let's talk about the art you create. I need to say I'm a huge fan of it, You're making paintings, bass guitars projects and picks. Tell us, which piece makes you proud the most? How the process of creating looks like? How much time does it take?

Chloe Trujillo: Thank you so much!!! I can't say I have a piece I'm most proud of, I'm so in love with the process, I get so excited about creating a new piece each time, and once a piece is done, I'm excited for the next one...I'm more proud of the body of work that I created...and am still creating, I'm more proud of being able to keep on creating like that non stop and still feel the excitement and passion for it after all these years.

My process is really very spiritual, I let visions and images come through and then I paint...It can take a week or it can take several months...it depends on many factors, the inspiration at the moment, the medium used (oils take longer, while acrylics are faster), the size of the work, etc...

Overkill.pl: One of your paintings, Dyers Eve, is inspired by Metallica's song. Why did you choose this particular song?

Chloe Trujillo: Cause I love it!!! And also because the words speak to me! These lyrics really touch me, they have a strong meaning for me , the way I interpret them, and make them my own, you know? It felt really good exteriorizing of these emotions and feelings on canvas!!

Overkill.pl: What do you think about making another piece inspired by Metallica stuff?

Chloe Trujillo: Why not? I would love to when the time comes.

Overkill.pl: What projects are you involved in right now?

Chloe Trujillo: I have handbags in production, I have new songs I'm putting together (I wrote them a while ago, but now I'm finally organizing them...), I am painting a series for a new project , I am working on a new t-shirt line, I am working on my 3rd book, I'm planning a few shows for my surfboard art and scarves, and many other things....

Overkill.pl: How do you spend your free time when you are not creating art?

Chloe Trujillo: I spend my time with my family, Robert is only home on week-ends, so we take advantage of these couple of days to take the kids skating, see friends, have meals together, etc... I also love to read, I started picking up the guitar again, I write a lot, I eat chocolate, I dance (for real), we also love to go see shows, concerts.

Overkill.pl: I remember you saying that you are so into painting that you actually could bedaub even your car! Have you already done this? [laughs]

Chloe Trujillo: I so want to paint my car!!! Robert won't let me.....he drives it sometimes and doesn't like attracting attention....My car is an old jeep wrangler, black, and I would love to add some color to it....oh well....but I have painted some furniture in our house and I painted my walls of my apartment in Paris when I lived there, I did some crazy sceneries with dragons and eyeballs mosaiced together...I loved it!

Overkill.pl: Let's talk about the music. First of all, you recorded Frank Zappa’s cover The Torture Never Stops with Rob. Tell us about the whole experience with recording this song. Why did you choose it?

Chloe Trujillo: That recording process was truly magical!

Gail Zappa asked me to pick one of Frank's song to record for this annual Birthday bundle CD, so after giving it some loooonnngg thought, I picked 2, "Willie the Pimp" and "the Torture never stops". Well Gail told me that "Willie the Pimp" had already been chosen for the record, so I had to do "Torture".Then I asked Robert if he would play the bass on it, and he agreed to learn the song.

A few days before recording I started having this crazy cough, and I felt really nervous about it....I mean it's an 11 minutes song to sing....But when we arrived at the studio, and I told Gail about my concern, she responded that it was the perfect condition to record "the Torture never stops" being tortured by a cough!!Torture!!! I think it gave me that extra boost I needed, and the whole song was recorded in one take!!! Without coughing at all!!!! Which was incredible!!!!

I literally was coughing every 2 minutes at the time... Then Gail had another brilliant idea, she asked me to improvise during that instrumental section of the song; and there more magic happened: as soon as we started recording my improv, I started my thing and finished exactly right before the singing part starts again...like incredible, something that if you try to plan it, it would never work out, you know???I loved recording this song, and I hope I get to record Willie the Pimp one of these days....or another Zappa song?

Overkill.pl: Are you planning to record another cover with Robert? Which song would you like to play?

Chloe Trujillo: I would love to record something else with Robert! He is so busy, I haven't really given it any thoughts....

Overkill.pl: Does your daughter help you with your art? I'm asking because I’ve recently seen a picture of your son playing the bass and I know he has a band called The Helmets. I wonder if your children follow in their parents' footsteps? [laughs]

Chloe Trujillo: It's crazy, yes Tye plays the bass, the drums, the guitar, he's already writing original music...it all came naturally, same with Lullah, she gets up in the morning and the first thing she does is draw, she draws all day long, she wrote a few books with her illustrations, she started painting and did an amazing art exhibition at her school, and people are already asking to buy her art....The children are passionate! Seeing the passion and drive they both have is so inspiring to me!! So it does help me, it does make me want to do more and more and better.

Overkill.pl: By the way, your son's band is playing a show in Chile in March. Also, Robert's band, Mass Mental, is playing there. Have you thought about hitting the stage with them?

Chloe Trujillo: That would be so cool!!!! That would be a dream actually to get to all play together!!! We have to make this happen somehow!

Overkill.pl: Which bands are the most important for you and why?

Chloe Trujillo: That's a tough question...I always loved heavy metal, because it always gave me strength in difficult times, there are so many bands I could mention.... I remember also when I lived in NYC and was performing every night, to get myself ready for stage I would put my headphones on and listen to death metal cds to help me relax and get in the zone...weird maybe for some, but still true. But I love any kinds of music, except maybe the new pop-hits songs? That I never get to hear anyways..., but I do listen to rap, hip-hop, classical music, jazz, blues, rock....

Overkill.pl: Do you listen to Metallica?

Chloe Trujillo: Yes, of course!

Overkill.pl: In your opinion, which Metallica's album is the best and which is the worst?

Chloe Trujillo: I love the old stuff, Kill'em all and Ride the lightning, I lost track of their work after the black album came out and then re-connected with their work after Robert joined, I actually love Death Magnetic.

Overkill.pl: Let me change the subject for a moment. I know you graduated in Mathematics and the Fine Arts. Have you ever thought to continue your career as a scientist?

Chloe Trujillo: Not really as a career, but I do read a lot of scientific books, and keep myself updated on new discoveries via the internet too. Another thing I should mention is that I was invited to create art in space, so I got connected with space engineers, astrophysicists and rocket scientists again and it feels really good hearing about the current research and developments of projects. So science is still very much present in my life!!!

Overkill.pl: It seems that Metallica is the only band which takes a risk frequently, you know: their movie, Orion festival, recoding an album with Lou Reed... What do you think about their attitude?

Chloe Trujillo: I love it, and I am glad you are seeing this! I think being an artist is about taking risks, it's about experimenting, it's about taking chances, and being different, at the risk of making some fans upset....Being true to yourself is important and doing what you love is too. They are not afraid ...even in their beginnings, it took a while before people started being into their music, but they stayed true to themselves and kept going. And it is with experimenting that you discover new things...just like in science.

Overkill.pl: Talking about Lou Reed and his collaboration with Metallica... What are your thoughts about Lulu?

Chloe Trujillo: I think it was a great experience in both camps, both learned from each other and that was the birth of something unique!

Overkill.pl: Metallica is recording a new album. What do you think about it? How it would sound like? Maybe you've heard some new basslines which Robert plays at home?

Chloe Trujillo: I don't know how it sounds like at all....it's all a secret, even to me!

Overkill.pl: Which Metallica's song is your favourite one?

Chloe Trujillo: Leper messiah was my fav for a long time.....Motorbreath too...pfff your questions are hard....I can't pick a favorite one....it depends one the day?

Overkill.pl: I would like to talk about Jaco Pastorius. Personally, I think that Robert's involvement and his passion to make a movie about his hero and his main inspiration is absolutely amazing. Before we start talking about the movie, tell me, had you known Jaco Pastorius music before you met Robert?

Chloe Trujillo: Yes, actually I knew of Jaco through Weather Report. I had a good friend in High School that was learning how to play bass and was constantly listening to Jaco.

Overkill.pl: What are your future hopes about the movie?

Chloe Trujillo: I really hope it does well so that Jaco's music can continue to be heard, especially for younger generations that might not have heard of him...

Overkill.pl: Are you going to do a movie tour? I mean, bringing the movie to the cinemas in USA and in Europe?

Chloe Trujillo: You would have to ask my husband about this...I'm not sure what the exact plan is...

Overkill.pl: I know that Robert has paid by himself for the famous "Bass of Doom" guitar to bring it back to Jaco's family. Can you tell us the whole story about it?

Chloe Trujillo: Well, I know that the family had been trying to get this bass back for years!!!! Really, and thanks to Robert, it's now back. It's a long long story, and I didn't follow all the details...all I see now is that the family is grateful and happy!

Overkill.pl: Have you ever thought about doing some art about Jaco's life?

Chloe Trujillo: I painted two Jaco posters, one for the movie and one for record store day, and believe me, it was quite a journey...I had two short days to complete them, so it was very intense, working almost day and night non stop. And I tell you, I received messages and visons from Jaco and his life while creating those pieces. I learned so much from him!! I would receive such clear messages, Jaco was truly an inspirational, magical and mystical being....probably misunderstood way too often during his lifetime....but my work being very spiritual, I connected with his energy very quickly.

Overkill.pl: Me and our Official Metallica Fan Club and Chapter called Overkill.pl would like to thank you and we wish you and your family an awesome year 2015! I hope we will stay in touch, and do more interviews together again, in the future. Thank you for everything! Best wishes for you and your family!

Chloe Trujillo: Thank you so much for reaching out!!! Stay in touch and maybe I will see you again on tour somewhere in the world!!!! Happy New Year!!!!
